Every night, whether Stu or I read Conall his bedtime stories, I go in and say Conall's bedtime prayer with him. Then, he gives me a hug and a kiss and I tuck him in. Last night, before we said his prayer, Conall stood up, reached over and gave me a big hug. This is unusual, because once Conall gets used to a routine, he expects things to always go that way -- regardless of what else might be different that day. I hugged Conall back and said his prayer with him.
Then, Conall stood up again and gave me another big hug. Silly me, I was thinking he was stalling and trying to draw his bedtime out. As he hugged me Conall said, "That first hug was thanks for letting me go play with Kanton." And then he gave me a kiss and lay down to be tucked into bed. Sometimes how sweet he can be just takes me by surprise. No matter how much of a monster he can sometimes be, Conall has a good, sweet heart.
