A Sad Day

Big Footsie passed away today. Please pray for his mommy, Susan, and all of the kids at the Arkansas School for the Blind who will start school in the Fall without him. He is already greatly missed.

Extra Prayers for Susan and Footsie

Footsie needs lots of prayers! He is having trouble with his congestive heart failure and is in renal failure. The hope is that he has a kidney infection, which can be treated. Otherwise, things don't look good for him.
Please pray for him and especially his mommy, Susan. She and Footsie are very close and he is special to many children at the School for the Blind.

Footsie's Mom Thanks You -- Please Keep Praying

Awhile back, I put a post on here about Big Footsie, the service cat at the Arkansas School for the Blind library and Susan, my neighbor, and good friend's cat. She sent me an email this morning asking me to thank everyone for the prayers and to tell them that they are working.

Although Footsie's heart condition is still serious, he is doing much better! He is tolerating all of the medicines they are treating it with and his blood pressure is considerably lower than when he was first diagnosed. Susan has asked that we continue to pray for him, but wanted you guys to know how he is doing.

Footsie Still Needs Prayers

Please continue to pray for Big Footsie. He has been diagnosed with terminal Cardiomyopathy (enlargement of his heart). Please also pray for his mom, Aunt Susan, and all of the kids who count on him at the Arkansas School for the Blind.

Prayers for a Very Special Cat

Your prayers are needed for a very special cat -- Big Footsie. Footsie is the therapy cat at the School for the Blind and has touched many children's (and adults') lives. For those who have met our friend and neighbor, Aunt Susan, this is her #1 cat (like Inkspot is to me).

Despite treatment, Footsie is having a lot of trouble with his asthma and his vet recently noticed that his heart is enlarged. He sees a specialist about his heart tomorrow.

Please pray for him -- he is a VERY special cat. Many of you have heard me tell stories about him -- he is Susan's black polydactyl who wears bat wings at Halloween, participates in the school's Homecoming parade, has his photo taken for the yearbook, goes to the library with Susan to help teach the kids about reading and love, and is a general spokescat for all cats in need of help.

Prayer Request

Please pray for my Aunt Jackie, my godmother and dad's sister (yes, she is the one I'm closest to). She has been having trouble for some time with what she called "nerves." It turns out it is actually tremors and her doctor has finally referred her to a neurologist. She goes in Wednesday of this week. There is a chance she could have had a series of small strokes, but nothing is certain as of now. Please keep her in your prayers this week.

Princess Puke Strikes Again

We had another rough night with Caitlin last night. She ate a really big dinner and seemed to be fine. She had her medicine on time and everything was going well until we went to put her to bed. I'd read her bedtime stories and she was drinking her milk when she handed me the sippy cup and started crying and screaming. Next thing I knew, Caitlin, the chair, and I were covered in puke. She'd had Gerber baby meat sticks for dinner (like Vienna sausages but without all of the bad stuff) so you can imagine how disgusting it was, chunks and all!

We got Conall out of the tub and her back in (and me, since the majority of it was on me). Conall immediately started calling her princess puke and "the puke princess" again. We had a really hard time getting her to sleep last night and she woke up on and off all night long. I think around 3 a.m. we gave up and brought her to bed with us.

We're going to try giving her the reflux medicine before she eats dinner tonight and see if that helps. If it doesn't go away soon, we'll have to go in for food allergy tests. We're still waiting to hear about the bacterial infection (it will be sometime next week when they get the lab tests back). Please keep her (and us) in your prayers.

For those of you who've been following how my Aunt Dorothy is doing, I got an email from dad last night that said she was released from the hospital in Oklahoma City Friday. They stayed in a motel through the weekend to make certain she still had no internal bleeding or other complications. If everything went well, she was to head home Monday.

Apparently, there is still a risk for internal bleeding for 30 days after the surgery. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Prayer Request Part 3

Please continue to pray for my Aunt Dorothy. On Saturday, they moved her back to ICU due to internal bleeding. As of last night, they think that it may have subsided and have moved her back to a regular room. They are keeping a close watch on her because of the internal bleeding. Originally, they were afraid they might have to do surgery again today to stop it. Please pray that they found it, it has stopped, and that she will be able to begin recovery from the surgery and treatment for the cancer.

Prayer Request Part 2

Aunt Dorothy had her surgery today. She is doing well from all accounts. They think they got most, if not all, of the cancer. They will keep her for 7-10 days to make sure she doesn't have any internal bleeding. They won't know much more about the cancer until they run more tests. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Please say some extra prayers on Tuesday for my Aunt Dorothy. She is going to Oklahoma City for surgery to remove most (they think they can only get 80% of it) of her liver cancer. There is danger of internal bleeding because the area is so vascular. She is in good spirits, but has asked that we all pray for her.

Also, please pray for Nate, Tricia and Gywneth, thier blog is listed in our "Blogs We Read" under Confessions of a CF Husband. Tricia has Cystic Fibrosis and as many of you know, Stu has a friend whose daughter has CF. He often does artwork to help with their fundraisers. Gywneth was what they call a "micro-preemie." She was born much earlier than Conall, and her family still has many challenges to face because of it. So, even though we don't know these people, they are dealing with two issues very close to our hearts.
