Girlie Day With Na Na

The boys went fishing yesterday, so Caitlin and I had a fun girlie day with Na Na. Caitlin played in the wading pool at Na Na's, went shopping, played a few board games, played with blocks, watched a couple of Dora movies and then, when Conall got back from fishing, played in the wading pool again.

Ordering Shoes

Conall has outgrown yet another pair of shoes -- this time he went up 2 sizes since the last pair I bought about 3 weeks or so ago! I believe his next pair will have to be in the "boy" sizes instead of toddler!

After I picked him up from school today, we went shopping for shoes. We went to Penney's because they always seem to have the best selection and prices for him. Conall knows where in the store the shoe department is and where in the shoe department his sizes are. He went right to his size of shoes, picked out the style/color he wanted, and showed them to me to make sure they were ok with me. Then, he marched up to the cashier's desk. This is where the story gets funny.

Because they appeared to be having a sale, the shoe department was super-crowded. Conall walked right past everyone in both cashier's lines and "ordered" his shoes. He really "ordered" them! He looked straight at the woman checking out a customer and said "I need these in a size 11 please." (turns out we needed a 12). At least he said "please," right?

The woman with two kids, who'd obviously been waiting too long to get shoes to try on, looked really peeved and glared at him, and in turn, me. I grabbed him and pulled him to the end of the line where Caitlin and I and the cart were. I had to explain to him that we had to wait our turn.

After a short pause, he looked at me with complete innocence and said "you mean I cutted?" Although it was embarrassing, it was hilarious!

I guess you could say that Caitlin is making her own fashion statement with Conall's goggles on her head and wearing her jammies as she shops.

We took the kids to Old Navy tonight because they were having a sale on jeans and both kids really need some. Of course, the adjustable waist jeans in Conall's size were so baggy on him that it was ridiculous. On the other hand, the adjustable waist jeans in Caitlin's size fit great. They only had three in her size, so I bought all three. Grandma says Kohl's is having a sale, so I think we'll head there next for Conall -- so far, he's had to have the Levi's brand slim fit adjustable waist jeans in order to get the length he needs and to allow him to keep his pants up! I'm washing his jeans every other day, so I hope we find some more soon and that they are on sale (Levi's are so expensive).

I got sidetracked. The reason I'm writing the post is to tell you a funny story about Caitlin. She loved the shopping trip. While I hunted for the right size jeans, she found a pair of golden/taupe colored ballet style flat shoes. She wondered over to the next wrack and found a purse her size in coordinating colors. We had to carry both to the dressing room and back out, with the purse on her arm. She is so girly sometimes that it is scary. I'm afraid she'll be one of those girls who has to have everything she's wearing coordinate, which translates to expensive!

Update: Stu reminded me that after she had picked out her shoes and purse, Caitlin went over to where daddy and Conall were playing football in the store with a few other boys. Caitlin played football, too. She is definitely her own type of girl!

Window Shopping

Caitlin loves bags and purses! She will carry them around, fill them up, empty them, refill them, etc. She also likes to look out the window and get into the curtains. Here's a photo of her looking out the back window at the dogs with her purse on her arm. She looks like she's window shopping.
