Chocolate Chip Cookies

Friday morning before school, Conall told me that he wanted to come home from school and make chocolate chip cookies. When he got out of school, the three of us loaded up and went to the store to get the chocolate chips. Within 5 minutes of getting home, Kanton was ringing the doorbell for Conall to play. As Conall was already halfway out the door and the cookies long forgotten, I asked him if he wanted to wait to make his cookies. He yelled yes to me as they ran next door.

When Conall came home from playing he came in and immediately asked about the cookies.

Conall, very imperiously "Where are those chocolate chip cookies? Are they cool yet?"

(The only thing missing was him snapping his fingers, because you know, I live to serve)

Me "No. You wanted to go play instead. I didn't make them. I thought we were going to make them together."

Conall "Oh." Pause "You make me some?"

The next day we made his chocolate chip cookies. The kids loved them -- especially Caitlin.
