Looking in the Mirror

Isn't it funny when you look at your child and feel like you are looking at a younger version of yourself?

We had to wake Conall up for school again this morning, and once again, he didn't want to get up. He didn't want any lights on in the living room, he wanted to sit on the couch under the blanket and didn't want to eat anything yet. Conall told me he had to go potty and when I thought he'd been gone too long and was too quiet, I went to check on him. He'd gone back to bed! He was all snuggled up under the blanket with a stuffed animal in each arm.

If you'd told me a year ago that he'd do that, I wouldn't have believed you. I always thought Conall was my morning person since he was always up early and was always the first one in the house to wake up.

I remember my dad sending me to my room to get dressed for school and falling asleep sitting up on my bed with my school clothes still folded on my bed next to me. One of my favorite things about staying the night at my grandmother's when I was a child was that she let me wake up when I was ready and often let me stay up late to watch "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" with them. Conall is always wanting to "stay up late."

Anyway, this morning when I found Conall back in bed, it was like looking in a mirror and seeing a younger version of myself.
