Chocolate Bunny

Here is a photo of Caitlin eating the chocolate bunny that Na Na and Po Po gave her. She ate the ears first, then told me she saw a squirrel.

Hunting Eggs in Easter Outfits

Na Na and Po Po invited us to a picnic lunch and Easter egg hunt yesterday. Unfortunately it rained, so we had lunch and the Easter egg hunt inside. I don't think the weather mattered though -- everyone had just as much fun inside.

The Easter Bunny left Conall and Caitlin a note and a partially chewed carrot. He also put jelly beans in the butter -- which made Conall want to put butter on his food!

Here's my favorite photo of the kids -- Conall handing Caitlin an Easter egg. It is really sweet, but of course, as soon as she didn't take it, he put it in his basket. I'll post a slide show with more of the photos later.

Hunting Eggs in Jammies

The kids were up late Saturday night, so they slept a little later Sunday morning. Of course, Conall was the first person awake in the house (no surprise there), but Caitlin slept much later. So, the kids hunted eggs separately at home. The weather was stormy, cold and rainy, so the Bunny had to leave the eggs inside this year.

Sunglasses Thief

Uncle Ken let Caitlin play with his sunglasses while he was visiting Saturday. She would put them on and run through the house and take them off and put them on. At one point, she ran down the hall to Conall's room with them on. She played in there for awhile, then came running out minus sunglasses.

Conall went to look for the sunglasses for us and couldn't find them. We thought that he just hadn't looked very hard. I went to look for them and realized that Conall's room looks like the site of a natural disaster after playing in it all weekend. I couldn't find them! Stu came to help me and he couldn't find them. Uncle Ken wasn't too worried about and I think he kinda thought it was funny. We were starting to think that Caitlin had hid them so that she could keep them!

Eventually, I asked Caitlin where they were. They had fallen behind Conall's headboard and once I moved his bed back for her, Caitlin went right to them.

Uncle Ken came down yesterday and helped us dye Easter eggs. I don't know who had more fun -- the two little kids or the two big kids (Uncle Ken and daddy).

Grandma made Caitlin a precious tutu to wear. She loves it! She wore it to The Little Gym today and was Little Miss Confidence with it on.

School Easter Egg Hunt

Conall's class had an Easter egg hunt today. Conall made sure to pick up an egg for Caitlin and told everyone about it while he was doing it. Later, one of the boys in the class teased him for having a "girl's egg" and started calling him a girl. The teacher got onto the boy, but Conall handled it really well anyway. I think that may have been the egg he got for Caitlin -- and he endured the teasing for it. Sometimes, he is such a good big brother!

Stick Horse

My aunt made Conall a stick horse for Christmas a few years ago. He didn't get into playing with it at first, but in the last year or so, he has really enjoyed it. He was "riding" it all over the house the other day and Caitlin decided to join him.

Happy Dance for Caitlin

I'm so happy that I could do a little dance. Caitlin had her 2 year check up this afternoon (we're off by 2 months due to all the viruses we'd caught). She is up about 3 lbs. from her last check-up 6 mos. ago -- she weighs 24. 4 lbs.

Yippee! I can't tell you how happy I am or what a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. They had said that if she hadn't gained at a good enough rate by this check-up that they'd have to start running blood tests, etc. to see if there was anything wrong that was keeping her from gaining weight.

The doctor said to keep doing whatever I'm doing because it is working and to keep giving her whole milk. We go back again in another 6 months to check her weight again.

Caitlin's Easter Basket

Last week, I bought a basket and some supplies to decorate an Easter basket for Caitlin. I had bought her a pretty one when she was an infant, but Stu stored it somewhere in the storage building and it is nowhere to be found. Conall has a special one that I bought him as an infant and a firetruck one that Stu bought him.

Caitlin didn't really have a "special" Easter basket, so I wanted to make her one. Aunt Amy and I had a few ideas and she came over tonight and we put it together. I'm really happy with the results -- it is a very girly Easter basket. Caitlin seems to like it, too.

Rose Bush

Since Conall was a baby, we've taken a picture of him in front of NaNa's yellow rose bush. The rose bush only blooms once a year, but when it does it is gorgeous! We continued the tradition with Caitlin.

We tried to get a family shot, but we just could not get both kids sitting still, looking at the camera, facing the same direction, etc. It was just too frustrating, so we decided it wasn't meant to be this year. We got the important ones -- the photos of the kids -- with the rosebush.

Easter Egg Hunt

We went to our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt this weekend. Conall had a soccer game before the egg hunt and we barely made it to the egg hunt on time. We didn't have time to change his clothes -- so we went in soccer gear, mud and all.

Conall has gotten past his lackadaisical approach of past years -- he was an egg hunting machine. He was gone and had a bag full of eggs before I knew it. Caitlin wasn't quite sure what to do at first, but figured it out pretty quickly. She even had some older kids help her put eggs in her basket.

We saw several families and kids that we knew and the kids had a great time without being pushed, elbowed, or trampled by anyone. I really love our annual neighborhood egg hunt!

Planting Bulbs

The kids and I planted bulbs earlier this week. We'd bought them to plant over Spring Break, but it rained, and rained, and rained ... Anyway, we planted them earlier this week, between rainy days.

We had 20 Gladiola bulbs and 3 Dahlia corms. Conall picked them out -- he picked the bright red Glads and the bright red and white Dahlias -- so like his daddy -- I guess it will be a Razorback garden!

I did most of the digging and my tendinitis is sooooo making me pay for it. I don't know why, but I thought the kids would enjoy digging more -- after the first four or so bulbs, they were done digging. They kept hauling all of my dirt off and really had lots of fun playing in the dirt. Although, I think the most fun was watering the bulbs.

Conall's Garden Sign

While at Pop Pop's, Conall "planted" a garden with flowers he'd picked from elsewhere in the yard. Conall also built a sign to put in the garden that he told me said "No hornets or babies allowed" because they would stomp on or mess up his garden. He was very serious about it and kept checking to make sure his sign hadn't fallen down. Here are pictures of it -- pretty funny!

When we were in Fort Smith, we met my mom at the mall's inside play area. The kids had a lot of fun, especially considering that the weather was rainy and cold. The play area had trees, bridges, boats, ladybugs, frogs, bees, water, etc.
